Google-Verified for Gmail API Use
In 2019, Google has taken a stricter approach with developers who use their API. Read about it on Google’s Blog.
Fundamentally, Google wants to ensure that app developers don’t steal, misuse, or misappropriate your data. This includes verifying that:
The apps represent themselves correctly (they do what they claim to do).
Google access tokens remain on the device.
Sensitive user data remains on the device.
Apps only request the necessary permissions.
We’re happy to announce that our Chrome, Firefox, and Android apps are now verified to work with the Gmail API.
While we wish the verification process itself had been smoother and faster (the process started in February, and was completed in July), we’re glad that it’s now done and we can get back to making email privacy more accessible.
