Send Emails to a Proton User
I am currently trying to send an encrypted message from my Gmail account to a Proton account. As per the Proton docs, as long as incoming messages are inline with OpenPGP, the message should be received correctly.
When composing the message, I had to manually add the public key for my Proton account. I received the message, all right, however, it was not decrypted by my Proton client.
Have you had any experience with Proton? Does FlowCrypt follow the OpenPGP specification?
Yes. FlowCrypt fully follows the OpenPGP specification and now works seamlessly with Proton.
FlowCrypt can send encrypted and signed emails to Proton accounts without any special configuration. Proton is able to correctly decrypt and verify messages sent from FlowCrypt, and the same applies in the opposite direction.
Encrypted attachments are also fully supported. Attachments encrypted and sent from FlowCrypt can be decrypted by Proton, and encrypted attachments sent from Proton can be decrypted by FlowCrypt.
In short, FlowCrypt and Proton are interoperable today for secure email communication, including message encryption, signatures, and encrypted attachments.
