How OpenPGP encrypts your data
In OpenPGP, your data encryption is held by a pair of public and private keys. They play a critical role in the encryption, decryption, and digital signature processes for secure communication and data integrity. Our products automatically generate these keys for you, simplifying the process of using encrypted emails.
When you use FlowCrypt to send an encrypted email to someone, you use the recipient’s public key to encrypt the email. Only the recipient’s private key can decrypt the message and reveal its content. This ensures that only the intended recipient can access the email content. Additionally, the private key is used to sign emails. This allows the recipient of the email to verify that it was sent by the person who claims to have sent it using that person’s public key. It assures that the data being communicated or exchanged hasn’t been tampered with or altered during transmission.
